I took a quick look. Not much available that is specific to extracranial carotids. I did find this work on intracranial arteries:

Unfortunately many of the entire journal articles can't be obtained unless you have a subscription to the journal but you can always get an abstract. If you really want an inaccessible article you might be able to get it from a college or university library online for free or a few nickels.
Google scholar doesn't have ads or material from for profit content providers.
