The librarian reports to the library director and supports the learning, teaching, and research needs of faculty, students, and staff in the college of osteopathic medicine and in affiliated health sciences programs.


  *   Provides specialized reference and research consultation within the college of osteopathic medicine, in addition to providing reference services to students and faculty in affiliated health sciences programs and to community library users.​ Staffs the reference desk as needed.
  *   Develops, delivers, and evaluates library instruction in the classroom and in online environments.
  *   Assists the library director in collection development, including selection and evaluation of materials and resources that align with the curriculum.
  *   Provides interlibrary loan and circulation services as needed.
  *   Participates on the library committee and may represent the library on additional university committees.
  *   Participates in planning related to library services, collections, and technologies.
  *   Maintains library eResources, including developing Web content, troubleshooting connectivity, and setting up trials.
  *   Provides guidance to faculty and staff on the use of copyrighted works in the classroom and in course managements systems
  *   Participates in professional activities and maintains current knowledge of developments, technologies, and trends in library and information science;
  *   Other duties as assigned


Education and Experience:

  *   Master's degree from an ALA accredited program or equivalent
  *   Experience and/​or coursework in collection development, reference service/​research consultation, information literacy/​instruction, cataloging, and information technology
  *   Knowledge of medical subject areas and terminology
  *   Demonstrated ability to perform expert searches in a variety of information resources in the health sciences including PubMed and CINAHL
  *   Excellent written and verbal communication, customer service, and organizational skills
  *   Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook

Preferred Qualifications:

  *   Experience in an academic health sciences library
  *   Undergraduate or graduate degree or equivalent training/​work experience in the health sciences or related field
  *   Knowledge of copyright law as it relates to interlibrary loan and the use of copyrighted works in the classroom and library
  *   Familiarity with website design and with content management systems, such as concrete5
