Hello to you all!

I’m excited to share some projects that I’m working on and hope you’ll help me in spreading the word.

For the past 6 months I’ve been working with Annie Valentine of LivingWell, to plan a “Treat Yourself Week.”  Essentially this is a mid-semester check in with our mental health--students, faculty, staff.  Below are two of our highlighted events that we’re excited about.  There will be more marketing to come but please feel free to print off the attached .jpg to put up in your offices.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out.

Mental health challenges are the largest problems facing colleges today. Twenty-five percent of college students experience a mental health disorder. Outside of diagnosable disorders students are dealing with lack of sleep, stress, and substance abuse. We are excited to invite Ross to campus to talk about the complexities of mental health issues and empower us to seek help or help friends seek help. Most mental health challenges are highly treatable, but too often remain hidden in silence preventing people from achieving the recovery they are capable of.

Fresh Check Day, a program of the Jordan Porco foundation, and was designed to bring the whole campus community together to “check-in” on the mental health and wellness of college students.  The event strives to be an uplifting awareness raising fair. All are welcome.

Fresh Check Day will take place on Thursday, October 13 from 11am-3pm, 1st floor Davis Center.  We will transform the area into an expo-like atmosphere to bring together interactive exhibits combined with food, prizes and giveaways. The booths feature peer-to-peer messaging in a positive and community focused setting.

Our Fresh Check Day has been organized by Living Well and SGA with many on and off campus partners.
