Eric - It seems that if you upload your model to the 3D Warehouse, as long as it is public, you can select the option to make it printable and then you can download the STL file. So it doesn't happen within the Sketchup web interface but the 3D Warehouse.

Personally, I have never found SketchUp to be the best option for 3D printing anyway.

Speaking of 3D printing, Afinia has just today released a series of kits for STEM projects for schools.

I signed up for Beta access and although the toolset is more limited it works well. Unfortunately there is no export to STL nor is there the ability to add extensions to do so so at this point it won't work as a modeling tool for 3D printing.

Hi,
I just got a notification email that Sketchup has an open beta version that works on a web browser. my.SketchUp.com

I am wondering if this will be available with the state licence we have used in the past?  This will be great in a Chromebook environment.
