We also use Papercut.   There were some problems with the first version we installed, but since the last update, it's been great.  Solves the problem of when something doesn't work, kids try it ten times, then call me, I fix it, and 10 copies come out, too.

For the benefit of those of you who are also using it, I did discover one bug in Papercut recently.  It won't cloud print any Google doc that has double quotes in the file name.

We use Cloud Print in conjunction with PaperCut and it has been rock-solid (knocks on wood).

Thanks,

I'd have to agree, although I'm finding the "uptime reliability" to be improving.  What I have done to help is make printers installable by end users using the "addprinterpublic.html" command, the printer's device key the printer's google id key. I then use a website to provide instruction and install into each person's Google account.

I still have some printers, namely copiers, that are network printer, but the rest of my printers are gPrint based.

My experience with the Google Cloud print server is that its up-time wasn't 100%.  The schools that are getting the Chromebooks do not have technicians on site, so if something goes down, it might take days to get fixed.  Maybe a better way to say it is what do people find to be the most reliable method of printing from a Chromebook, even if it requires buying a printer or print server for the job.

Will,

Define what you see as the printing "problem" in more detail.  That way we can address specifics.

thankx,

We're buying a bunch of Chromebooks and are trying to solve the printing "problem".  I've set up a Google Cloud Print server in the past ,and it worked most of the time.  Occasionally it needed rebooting.  I've heard about Lantronix print servers.  I'm also looking at Cloud-Ready printers.  Any suggestions about make/model or method?  Thanks for any insight.
