Denise, I am sure that exam chair helps.

My protruding and bulging disks around C4-5 forced me to make some ergonomic changes many years ago.  My arm fatigues easily and I get tingling and numbness on my Rt shoulder/arm and down the Lt side of my spine.  Learning to scan with my left arm has been so very valuable.  Also doing the left before the right has helped a lot.  Honestly, I haven't done a right before left in so long that I don't know how I would do but it is a simple thing that makes all the difference for me.  17 years of abuse and hoping for another 15 at least so we do whatever we need to do to keep going...ergonomics for sure!  My boss said something like this the other day "I know you are willing to hurt yourself to get the picture/sample because thoroughness and accuracy an absolute necessity for you but you have to remember you need your body to do the job."  She is so right and I have to remind myself that daily! Lol

Nicole,  I have a Hausted exam chair and the patient is closer to examiner with less side rails space ,, I have been scanning over 40 years and older than most ,, no problem with bilateral with right first,, bilateral exams with resting ABI one hour,
Reflux bilateral 1 hr sitting and standing
Visceral 1 hr with tech sheet write ups.
Unilateral exams 30 mins arterial bilateral ABI
VENOUS unilateral. 30 mins
carotids 30 mins bil arm pressures and prox or mid subclavians

Some technologist need more time especially if the worksheet taking 10 mins needs to be filled out immediately following exam .

Ergonomics is important ,, stay healthy
