Hi Len,

I use the McIlvin and Casciottii 2011 needle (full citation at wiki as indicated by Alison). Note, however, the bulkhead part number in the RCM paper is incorrect. It should be 'ZBRU1.5T'.

Check out isogeochem wiki pages. Under repair tips there are two listed (bottom of the page). I have used the second one listed, “DIY GasBench Needles.pdf” posted by Stephen Romaniello. All parts are listed, which is handy. And it is a very sturdy setup. I’ve used glass capillary tubing I already had as the return (sampling) tubing on the needle so that I can still monitor for moisture in the line. I’ve been using on my GasBench. Works well.

Subject: Double walled needle recipe

Colleagues –

Does anyone have a great recipe and parts list for the construction of a double-walled side-port or bottom-port needle, the kind where the bottom/side port can be sealed by holding inside a 2-3 mm thick vial septa and the rest flushed with He gas?  E.g. for use on Gasbench, Trace Gas, Multiflow, etc.
