When I change the FQDN to smtp-relay.gmail.com it tries to send the test
email, but the result is:  Could not verify the result of connection test,
please check your mailbox to see whether an email is received.

I'm still unsure about the firewall blocking outgoing SMTP, but I'm told it
is unlikely.
