One more observation we noticed while editing photos: The Great Gray Owl is our largest owl but weighs about half of a Snowy Owl. When we first saw a Gray from about 250 feet away and 30' high we were across the river (and not even on the refuge yet) I digiscoped a long distance photo for documentation. This Gray Owl appeared to be suspended in midair..but as the photo shows it is on a twig about 3mm thick and seemed to float almost weightless. https://www.flickr.com/photos/blackpoll1/32192583504/in/dateposted-public/ The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.
