Andy-
Just curious. You mentioned you correlated 100 ultrasound studies with biopsy. What your accuracy compared to biopsy? We published on this awhile back, but the equipment is improved since we did this. Did you write it up? What criteria were you using to determine a positive study-velocities changes, presence of a halo, etc.?

Thanks-

Paula Heggerick

Gina,
We do several temporal artery studies a month have developed a specific protocol for this.  We also give several lectures in our area on the topic as we have become very proficient in them.  This is a very technically challenging study due to constant changing of your settings to prevent a false positive.  Are your doctors doing biopsies as well?  We correlated 100 ultrasound studies with a biopsy to ensure our skills and protocol were sufficient and constantly improve on how we are doing the duplexing.

Please contact me off the forum and I can help you design a protocol as well as give you a few power points we have on the topic.

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has a protocol for temporal artery testing to rule out temporal arteritis? My physician’s and I have having a discussion on this topic to see if it is something we can start testing. Any information will help!

Thank you!!
