Take a look at bloxels- http://www.bloxelsbuilder.com/education-overview/- definitely doable with 4th graders in the remaining time of the school year.

And, of course, scratch is always a solid tool!

Thanks, Rodney. Sadly, I no longer work in our after-school program. I have very fond memories of working with kids using the games from the Apprentice book. I would be all over that new book if I was still active!

Yeah, Gamemaker is very good. Charlie, do you know about the sequel to Game Maker's Apprentice? The Game Maker's Companion? Got it as a gift this year and it is very good. https://www.amazon.com/Game-Makers-Companion-Technology-Action-ebook/dp/B01J9MX12S/ref=pd_sim_351_1?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&refRID=97ADRX2MVBXEAKFT5JFX

I used to use Game Maker in our after school program, and loved that. Check out the Game Maker's Apprentice guidebook on Amazon. Of course, there's always Scratch.

Hi All,

I am looking for suggestions regarding any apps or websites to make games for 4th-grade students who have almost zero programming experience.  These students would like to make a game that teaches about space and allows users to make their own astronaut avatar.  Ideally, it would be pretty simple to use and allow them to make a game by the of the year during genius hour which will happen twice a week until school lets out for the summer.

Thanks!
