Sorry folks.. I was sent this last week on Thursday, but was out of the office end of the week. Last chance.. registration closes tomorrow, the 12th. Please share this with your Science and STEM folks…… [https://gallery.mailchimp.com/2bbe04e91ce28212abca78209/images/994fbf97-97c1-4652-975c-201e52ad17e9.png] [https://gallery.mailchimp.com/2bbe04e91ce28212abca78209/images/spacer.gif] Dear middle and high school science teachers, [Fathom]We are happy to announce that the Concord Consortium<https://concord.org/> will be hosting a professional development Energy Science and Engineering Workshop at the Emerson Inn<http://www.emersoninnbythesea.com/rooms-and-suites.html> in Rockport, MA, on October 8, 9, and 10. Lodging, meals, and mileage reimbursement will be provided and participants will receive a $300 stipend for completing the workshop. This workshop is part of a National Science Foundation-funded project that fuses science and engineering activities in the classroom with authentic applications in the real world using innovative technologies and industry expertise. Day 1 — Building Science Investigation · Learn how to use an infrared (IR) camera to illuminate the laws of thermodynamics. · Experience hands-on thermal energy activities for your classroom. · Learn how to guide students to conduct a home energy inspection with an IR camera that may reveal potential energy issues and help their families make decisions to reduce their energy consumption, utility costs, and carbon emissions. Day 2 and Day 3 — Solarize Your World · Learn 3D modeling and engineering design concepts using Energy3D, a free computer-aided design tool for building and energy simulations. · Explore strategies for implementing the "Solarize Your World" curriculum projects in which students become "Solar Energy Engineers" and design solar power solutions for homes, schools, public buildings, parking lots, garages, and more! If interested, please complete this application<https://goo.gl/forms/8LytCao40Q011oHV2> by September 12th. Note that we only have 30 spaces available, so we will be reviewing applications and confirming attendance by September 15th. Feel free to invite other Engineering, Physics, Earth Science, and Physical Science teachers in your science department.
