Is there any literature on peroneal artery/brachial pressure index? I’m not aware of any so unless the facility has created a criteria based on in-house data correlation the number is just a number.

Does anyone have experience with doing ABIs this way?:

Ankle pressures and waveforms via DPA and PTA as usual, along with arm pressures.

Then a proximal calf pressure taken while listening to the peroneal artery at mid-calf (between the ankle and proximal calf cuffs) – that is considered the peroneal pressure.

The idea is obtain a pressure and pressure index that reflects peroneal artery flow.

Would you report the peroneal pressure as part of an ABI, knowing that it isn’t taken from the ankle, but proximal calf?  For example, “The peroneal ABI is within normal limits”.

Working with a lab that does this and looking for good way to report the peroneal/proximal calf pressure index – as an ABI or “BK/brachial” index?

Can anyone think of any diagnostic criteria or reference for this?
