All UVM Students: The Campus Emergency Operations Team will be conducting a test of UVM's CatAlert Notification System on Thursday afternoon (2/1/18) between classes. Every student will automatically receive an e-mail message. Those who have previously signed up may also receive cell phone voice and/or text alerts at this time, depending upon the emergency notification options you chose. For more information about the CatAlert System, including how to register the first time, or how to update the information you provided previously, please click on:http://www.uvm.edu/emergency/catalert_campus_alerting_system. In the interest of campus health and safety, the University of Vermont maintains this robust emergency alerting system called CatAlert. It is used to notify the campus community that a significant emergency or dangerous situation involving an immediate or continuous threat to the health or safety of students and/or employees is occurring on the campus. Since such events may also originate beyond the borders of the campus, UVM Police, Burlington and South Burlington Police collaborate and share information on a daily basis. Notifications of emergency conditions, including a description of any required actions (such as evacuate to a safe location), will be sent without delay to campus audiences that might be impacted, once UVM Police personnel or other officials have validated the situation, unless such notifications would compromise efforts to assist victims or to contain, respond to, or otherwise mitigate an emergency or situation. We are required, by federal law, to conduct this test even if a CatAlert has already been issued within the same academic year.
