Trying not to hijack this thread:

We are currently looking at moving as much to a 100% Chromebook environment within our District.  Our budget and purchasing for the coming year have been planned without continuing/replacing much of the older non-Chrome systems.  As this may put us in a challenging place considering accommodations such as speech-to-text and text-to-speech for standardized testing, what have other Chrome environments done and planned for?

Is it overly optimistic/hopeful that this process will be available on Chromebooks in the near future?

Thanks, and let me know if we should start a different thread on this.

Hi Maria:
Feel free to copy and edit/ use the following as guides for using speech to text. We recommend and use the ipads where we can as it is so much more natural and more like what students may have already been using.

We have some instances, however, where we need to use a desktop and therefore use the built in Windows Speech Recognition as we do not have current licenses for Dragon.

**Note: Speech to Text is not available for use on a Chromebook while using the secure browser for the VTSA or SBAC assessments.

We have a student that will be using speech to text for SBAC. The accommodation has been set up in TIDE, it is showing up on their test, but it isn’t working for the student. What step are we missing? Someone mentioned  — permissive mode ( which is on). Any advice?
Thanks,
Maria
