Here is the response from Marylee Woods of the Taxpayer Services Division, Vermont Department of Taxes, to a question about the correct Property Transfer Tax Return form to file.

The question: Does anyone know if we can still accept PTRs with the revision date 10/16 at the bottom?

Marylee's response: Possibly, it depends on when the transfer occurred. The Department has created a fact sheet that provides guidance on this issue. Here is the link to the document on our website: http://tax.vermont.gov/sites/tax/files/documents/AcceptedFormsProptyTransfTaxFS.pdf.

Users may file returns using the myVTax website not just for current transfers, but also for transfers that occurred long ago. Filing via myVTax will ensure the user always has an acceptable form.
