Dear colleagues, We would like to invite you to the session “Denitrification in Agricultural Soils: Integrated Control and Modelling at Various Scales” to be held at at the 2019 SSSA meeting Jan 6 -9 in San Diego(see https://scisoc.confex.com/scisoc/2019sssa/webprogrampreliminary/Session18383.html) Denitrification is the key process returning reactive nitrogen to the atmosphere. Despite being intensively studied for more than 100 years, soil denitrification rates and emissions of its gaseous products can still not be satisfactorily predicted. The complexity of the process in response to highly temporally and spatially variable soil properties (matrix to field scale) prevents robust prediction of denitrification rates and gaseous emissions. We invite oral or poster contributions on interactions between effects of key factors on denitrification and its gaseous emissions, and modelling of these processes at scales from matrix to field. Keynote speakers: §Peter Groffman, Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies (to be confirmed) §Marcus Horn, Institute of Microbiology, Leibniz University Hannover (to be confirmed) §N.N. Abstract deadlines are approaching (early registration until July 24, late until Aug 8). Hope to see some of you next year in San Diego The conveners Jürgen Böttcher, Reinhard Well, Terry Loecke -- ____________________________________________________________ PD Dr. Reinhard Well Telefon: +49 (0)531 596 2535 Fax: +49 (0)531 596 2699 E-Mail:[log in to unmask] Adresse: Thünen-Institut für Agrarklimaschutz Bundesallee 65 38116 Braunschweig Deutschland Web: http://www.thuenen.de/de/ak/ Das Johann Heinrich von Thünen-Institut, Bundesforschungsinstitut für Ländliche Räume, Wald und Fischerei – kurz: Thünen-Institut – besteht aus 14 Fachinstituten, die in den Bereichen Ökonomie, Ökologie und Technologie forschen und die Politik beraten. address: Thünen Institute of Climate-Smart Agriculture Bundesallee 65 38116 Braunschweig Germany Web: http://www.thuenen.de/en/ak/
