Caleb

I'm sad to see Marlboro's program come to an end.

As an alum of one of  Marlboro's graduate programs, I can honestly say that it was the perfect choice for me when I was seeking my Master's.
I was looking for a school that  was innovative in its content and pedagogy, and I found it at Marlboro.

I will bear my Marlboro alumn status with pride!

School-IT folks. R.I.P. MAT, see below announcement from my boss, Kate.

I'm sad but satisfied. We designed a great new online curriculum in Learning Design and Technology, but we were unable to use word of mouth and our tiny budgets to get an initial cohort.

To make sure our students are taken care of during any teaching out of the program. Marlboro is giving me good severance and consulting work until Dec break.

FROM KATE JELLEMA, DIRECTOR, MARLBORO GRADUATE AND PROFESSIONAL STUDIES

Dear Friend of Marlboro’s MAT,

You may have heard this news through other channels but we wanted to make sure we shared it with you directly.

For 20 years, Marlboro College has offered an innovative Master’s of Art in Teaching with Technology that emphasized applied learning with real-world impact. As a partner and supporter, you have seen first-hand the exceptional quality of the teaching and learning in this program.

Unfortunately, as the landscape of Vermont K-12 education and the place of technology in the schools has shifted in recent years, we have faced declining enrollment in the program. Based on that trend, we have come to the difficult decision to stop admitting new students into the Teaching with Technology program as of this fall.

Marlboro remains committed to a high level of professionalism and transparency, and it is important to us that we provide the best academic experience possible for our students.  With much consideration, it was clear that running the program with low enrollment was not going to provide future students with the level of cross-sharing, networking, and academic community that we value.

Even though we won’t be admitting any new students, we will support all current students through degree completion. Caleb Clark will continue as program chair through the transition.

Thank you for all your support over the years.

Sincerely,

Kate Jellema
