Dear all,

Apologies for cross/repeat posting. Please pass this on to potentially interested parties.

We have an exciting opportunity here in Adelaide, South Australia, for a fully-funded three-year Postdoctoral position to the Carbon and Nutrient Cycling Group at CSIRO. The overarching purpose of the research is to develop a stronger understanding of the biological and chemical pathways that lead to stabilisation of fresh carbon inputs to soil.

The successful applicant will work with experts in the field based in Adelaide, Canberra, and Colorado. All have strong track records in the measurement and modelling of carbon and nutrients in terrestrial ecosystems. The applicant will have access to world class analytical facilities, including IRMS, CSIA, solid-state NMR, Py-GC/MS and a radioisotope tracer suite all based on campus and dedicated for the use of the group. In addition to compiling new data using these techniques, the applicant will work with modellers to build on their findings and to improve existing modelling predictions of terrestrial C flows. They will have access to CSIRO’s HPC facilities to enable this.
