Dear colleagues,

I’d appreciate your help finding applicants to fill the following three positions in freshwater and catchment research programmes supporting management to reduce the impacts of agriculture on lakes and waterways. The PhD scholarships are heavily focused on isotope techniques, and it would be great to have someone with isotope experience in the technical role.

Brief info is below and more detailed information is available at https://lakesprof.blogspot.com/2018/09/three-positions-available-2-phd.html

Two PhD scholarships are available immediately and open until filled.

One doctoral student will be based at the University of Waikato Environmental Research Institute, and will evaluate two tracers to assist in understanding the age and source of contaminant nitrate. The project will mainly involve the redevelopment of continuous water isotope measurements and calibration technology to monitor real time changes in water and contaminant sources. For longer timescales, the project will also develop radiocarbon in dissolved inorganic carbon as a tracer. To apply, send an expression of interest and a CV to Professor Troy Baisden.

One doctoral student will be based at Lincoln University, and will examine the potential of nitrous oxide isotopomers to determine relative levels of this gas produced by nitrification and denitrification along flowpaths in soil and shallow groundwater. To apply, send an expression of interest and CV to Professor Tim Clough

Thanks for your help
