Hi Stacy,

Yes, 25 years is a long time! This is why VSARA is working on updating the guidance for municipalities on records retention. The Disposition Order that was issued by VSARA’s predecessor the Public Records Advisory Board (PRAB) is the most recent guidance for green mountain passport records. The Vermont Local Records Program has been working hard to prioritize and develop new guidance to replace the Disposition Order system.

We have the green mountain passports on our list of record that need more up to date guidance. Please bear with us as we work on getting updates.

Best,

Megan

Hello Alberta,

Currently, disposition guidance for Green Mountain Passport applications can be found on one of the disposition orders for Municipal Clerks, specifically Disposition Order No. 09219.  A direct link to the disposition order can be found here.  If you have any additional questions, or the link does not work, please let us know!

Regards,

Andrew

Subject: Green Mountain Passports?

Morning,

I have found a box of Green Mountain Passport applications going back to the early 90's. I have looked on the retention schedules and cant find them listed.

Does anyone know how long we need to hold onto the applications after the passport has been issued?

Sincerely,

Alberta Miller
