Overall Objective: Social justice models of disabilities define a disability as the result of the interaction between a person with an impairment and an environment that creates a barrier for that individual. Social justice models differ from medical models in that it places more emphasis on social factors and environmental design. This session will highlight societal attitudes towards people with disabilities through a discussion on media representation, messaging, microaggressions and explore how higher education institutions can be more inclusive to people with disabilities.

Target Audience: All staff and faculty

Level of Instruction: Intermediate 

 

Please follow these steps to enroll:

- Log in to PeopleSoft Human Resources at www.uvm.edu/~erp/portal/

- Go to Main Menu > Self Service > Learning and Development > Request Training Enrollment

- Click Search by Course Number

- Enter CCP013 and click Search

- Click View Available Sessions

- Click on the Session Number for the date you wish to attend

- Click Continue, Submit, Yes until you reach the "Save Confirmation" page

You will receive a confirmation email with the subject line, "Request submitted"
