Here are my thoughts, well really they are questions which would lead you
to a potential solution.

Are you using a POP client somewhere for this account?

Have you enabled forwarding ?

Did you clear out your sent mail thinking it was duplicates?

Is another device synced to this account like a phone, other chrome browser
or os?
