This morning I walked the rocky RI coastline in Little Compton. Beside the
skeins of common eider were 15+ harlequins, most very close to shore, and
diving repeatedly. Since I walked the same stretch of beach late yesterday
afternoon, I assume the very stiff (and cold) onshore wind pushed them
shoreward overnight.

These were the first harlequins I've seen in many years.
