This afternoon at the Charlotte Town Beach amid deteriorating viewing conditions I found a male Canvasback, a male Barrow's Goldeneye, and several Ring-necked Ducks, my first of the season. Although ice is forming, there is still quite a bit of open water to accommodate the ducks. The large flock of Common Goldeneyes and the ducks described above were all swimming close to shore, making identification somewhat easier despite the snow.
