I recently reached out to Hokanson and inquired about blood pressure cuff barriers and I was told they do not make a product for such thing, however directed me to a company that could offer a solution. This company, Tidi products also offers the option to send you samples of these cuff barriers. I am currently waiting for a reply to hear the cost of these barriers.

We use our hospital based disinfectant Clorox hydrogen peroxide.  We have two sets of cuffs for each pvr unit and hang one set of cuffs on the wall to air dry after disinfection.  We converted some old wall ultrasound probe holders to hang our cuffs on.  Works pretty good.

Saran wrap in bad case scenarios. Or a plasticized pillow case if there is one around. Does everyone sanitize all the cuffs after each and every case? If so, what do you use? Do you ever launder the cuffs?

Hi Chris,

Yes you are correct, we have been using saran wrap for ages until this week when we were approached by the JACHO prep team and they are prohibiting the use of saran wrap – unknown reason.

I agree with all of your comments – and thank you for replying.

Derek, can I ask why is there a need for disposable cuffs? I have never heard of disposable cuffs for our Parks units.  We have always used Saran Wrap (plastic wrap) to wrap the extremity.  It is an excellent barrier to seeping wounds and ulcers.  It is thin enough that it does not impede PVR tracings.  1 box last for years.  It’s disposable and cheap.  The male air hose connectors have O-rings that are unique to  maintain specific pressures.

Not sure if the answers your questions.

Thanks

In o e of the labs I worked for, we purchased barriers/sleeves to cover the extremity to protect patient wound and cuffs from contamination.     Is this what you are asking?

Hello to all –

I have been asked to research disposable BP cuffs for the Parks Flo-Lab 2100 SX2.

We do have plastic covers to apply the Parks cuffs over but I have been asked to research this.

Am I to assume that the Parks cuffs have a certain connector and a certain bladder configuration to maximum PVR tracings and pressure inflation? Or are all cuffs universal contact for this system and for this purpose?

I have contacted Parks and was informed the Soft Check cuffs they list that are disposable are for veterinary use and that they have no recommendations.

Any thoughts?
