I've been working with Audrey from SoundTrap trying to get consortium pricing like we do with WeVideo, VoiceThread, and BookCreator.

But its been a slow process for several reasons. One of which is they have been purchased by Spotify and I think are in transition and are trying to figure out models for working with schools.

Another reason is that Audrey (our rep) was looking for us to come up with 10 schools who might be interested in a PILOT where she extends the free 30 trial they offer to a more realistic time frame to actually work as a group and create model projects with audio. We did not get enough schools to make this work. (yet). But by the sounds of this conversation, perhaps there might be more interest now than a year ago. Perhaps we can try again.

With Soundtrap, I was able to convince them to let us buy licenses as a consortium under one org (Vita-Learn) so that schools who don't need 50 licenses (their minimum)

Not sure this is much help, but if you are interested in Soundtrap, keep me in the loop, and I'd be glad to continue working with them to make something happen if there are at least 10 schools interested.

Charlie did a great session at Dynamic Landscape on Podcasting with Soundtrap. (Teachers got to takeaway skills AND some licenses)

Should we plan another such session at VermontFest?

Like Charlie, we’ve found SoundTrap to be a decent replacement for the functionality (but not the ease of use) of things like Garage Band. Setting up accounts is *theoretically* easy, but their business model and setup doesn’t understand schools as well as things like WeVideo. Sharing and collaborating is decent, but creating music is time consuming (but, it’s like that in Noteflight, too).

We also used Soundtrap to record podcasts in the high school this year, and really liked it for that purpose. But now WeVideo allows export as .mp3, and the interface/editing is easier/more intuitive, so we going to use it more than Soundtrap next year.
