Submit your proposal for Issue #3: "Science Under Occupation"

Coming this winter

Science for the People's third issue confronts the legacy of science and the ways it has helped (and continues to help) perpetuate all forms of occupation. We ask: what is the relationship between science and underdevelopment? How can we think of the development of science outside of specialized laboratories? How do people develop and adapt science to resist human and environmental exploitation? What role has science played in occupation, and the struggle against it, from Palestine to Puerto Rico, from Kashmir to Okinawa, from Standing Rock to Iraq?

Science for the People is soliciting proposals on these subjects from all countries and regions. We will consider:
  • features
  • short stories
  • artwork and photography
  • poetry
  • book and media reviews
We especially encourage submissions from activists and those organizing in the sciences, as well as those working in the humanities and arts at the intersection of science. We particularly welcome women, people of color, non-binary individuals, and others traditionally underrepresented in these fields to send submissions to Science for the People.

Deadline: August 15, 2019
