Job Description

Provides library services to meet the informational, educational and research related needs of the patients and families, clinicians, general public, and other branches of the Stanford Health Library. Assists in the staffing, promotion, and delivery of services for all library sites when needed. Works with the Director and fellow librarians to implement systems and technical services. Represents Stanford Health Library at the community level of partner institutions and community information events including those held at Stanford Health Care and Stanford University.

Trains, manages and supports volunteer staff in locations where volunteers work alongside librarians. Participates in the planning process for library expenditures and physical facilities. Coordinates staffing for site. Participates in promotion planning and is responsible for implementing segments of the promotion plan. Collaborates with other departments, including clinical, for delivery of services, creation and implementation of pilot programs and projects where librarianship is a needed service.


* M.L.S. OR M.L.I.S. required, familiarity and experience with medical terminology necessary.
* Experience with database management and searching.
* Experience in personnel management, training and supervision.
* Interest and experience in public service and volunteer relations.
* Strong communication skills, verbal and written.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with widely diverse groups.
