Yeah you missed it. All sorts of goofy stuff blathered on the internet about it.
Granted I'm not a Vail fan because there's too many Bogner clad whoses there, LOL! (Just kidding - I know some people wearing Bogner threads that are exceptional skiers). But some of the panic over this is laughable. Someone wrote an opinion piece on Facebook about "The Vailification Of The Northeast" that was ridiculous. One example in that piece: "VAIL WILL NOT REPLACE YOUR FAVORITE MOUNTAIN'S OLD LIFT UNLESS THEY HAVE TO" Well, duh dude, what ski area doesn't do that? The saintly Mad River didn't refurbish the Single until after 60 years and Waterville kept a J-Bar and the Summit Double running for 50+ years and our main HSDQ has been running for 30+ years. Lifts ain't cheap. Then he fears that Vail will siphon off skiers from the Northeast ...... hullo, most avid Northeast skiers take a trip or 2 out West anyway and it's just that now they will be more likely to go to Vail. .....and so on and so forth.
Has Stowe changed much since the takeover?
