RE: Updates: Building Access, Gatherings, and
Deliveries
I am writing to provide several updates related to campus
operations.
Building Access and Security
Effective immediately and until further notice, university
buildings will be open only from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m.,
Monday through Friday, and otherwise accessible only by key or
CATcard. There are some buildings that will be secured
additional hours or completely; building occupants will be
notified accordingly. Requests to extend additional security
protocols for particular buildings should be directed to Mark
McKenna, Director of the CATcard Service Center
([log in to unmask]). All residence halls will be secured 24 hours
per day, accessible only by CATcard and limited to students who
have been approved by Residential Life to be in the halls.
Reminder, if you have an iPhone you can set up your CATcard on
your Apple Wallet. Information on how to activate this feature
on your iPhone is available on the CATcard website.
Group Gatherings
In an effort to further support social distancing practices
designed to reduce the spread of COVID-19, all gatherings will
be limited to 10 or fewer. If you have an event scheduled with
University Events Services (EMS), they will assist with
canceling or helping to explore alternative means of hosting,
such as video or teleconferencing. If your meeting is scheduled
in a space not managed in EMS, it is your responsibility to
cancel or update your meeting invitation and associated services
such as catering.
FedEx and UPS Deliveries (for faculty and staff only)
Effective immediately and until further notice all packages
ordered using FedEx or UPS will be delivered to UVM Print &
Mail at the UVM Williston Mail facility. UVM Print & Mail
staff will attempt to deliver the package to the specific
office/department by emailing or calling in advance to confirm
that someone is present to receive the delivery or UVM Print and
Mail receives an email or phone communication from the
office/department stating that someone will be in their office
to accept the delivery. You can opt to pick up your packages at
the UVM Williston Mail facility (223 Avenue D, Suite 20,
Williston, VT), from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Monday through
Friday if you are not on campus.
Given current circumstances, FedEx and UPS frequently have found
no one present to accept packages they have attempted to deliver
to individual offices on campus. FedEx and UPS both asked that
UVM take these steps in order to ensure that packages get to the
appropriate individuals, otherwise, if undeliverable, the
carriers will return the package to the sender.
If you have time sensitive packages please contact us at
[log in to unmask] or call 656-4313 to let UVM Print and
Mail know when you are available on campus for the package to be
delivered to your office/department.
I appreciate your understanding and cooperation during this
difficult and challenging time. All our efforts are implemented
with the intent of protecting the health and well-being of all
members of our community.
