Hello VVBGA members. Please spread the word about this event, it’s open to all.

Using Mustard as a BioFumigant Cover Crop.

Join the Vermont Vegetable and Berry Growers Association and University of Vermont Extension on Tuesday July 20 from 4-6 pm at Four Corners Farm in S. Newbury Vermont to learn from Charlie Gray's 8 years of experience using mustard to suppress weeds and soil borne diseases in rotation with other crops, especially strawberries, which are important on this farm. The Gray family grows 50 acres of fruits and vegetables at Four Corners Farm, including about 8 acres of strawberries. This year they will grow about 10 acres of mustard, sown at 2 different times of the season. Charlie will share lessons learned about different mustard varieties, explain the timing, their seeding methods, and demonstrate how the cover crop is mowed and incorporated prior to a cash crop, which is critical to success.

The farm sign is on Route 5. There will be a sign pointing you to where to park.

If severe weather requires cancellation I will notify this list on the morning of July 20.

I hope to see you there.
