Dear Colleagues,
I am delighted to announce that Lana Metayer is our next Director of Sponsored Project Administration (SPA), effective today, Monday, March 21, 2022.
Prior to this appointment, Lana has been putting her M.S. in Business Administration from St Mikes to good use by managing the SPA audits, revenue and cash end of the business where Lana’s team bills, collects and manages over $150M a year.
However, Lana’s true passion is streamlining and introducing efficiencies to the business of research administration. She has been our UVM representative in several organizations such as Federal Demonstration Partnership (FDP) where streamlining
is the topic and has presented the PI Portal to national audiences at PeopleSoft’s Higher Education User Group (HEUG) and National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA).
With a BA in English, from Pyatigorsk Linguistic University, Pyatigorsk, Russia, Lana is always reading regulations, proofing our procedures and offering insightful electronic solutions to better our administrative process.
To that end, Lana has been instrumental in the development of UVMClick Grants and the PI Portal, our web based sponsored project expenditure reporting system. A new project Lana has kicked off is to implement an electronic workflow system
for subaward invoice processing.
Lana has this to say about being the next SPA Director, “I am truly honored to be appointed the next SPA Director. My goal is to continue building on all of SPA’s successes, continue to roll out the red carpet
for SPA 2.0 and ensure SPA remains customer-focused service center, staffed with the best research administrators in New England, find operational efficiencies and improve award acceptance timelines, and always keep an eye on maintaining compliance and clean
audits.”
Thank you to the search committee comprised of Julie Macy, SPA, Linda Serrantonio, SPA, Emily Trantum, SPA, Tina Mazuzan, Medicine, Rose Feenan, Rubenstein, and Stephanie Dion, CALS and to the Associate Deans for Research that had very
engaging meet and greet sessions with Lana.
Well done Lana and Congratulations.
Brian
