The position initiates and maintains vendor and consortia relationships to achieve financial efficiencies. Efficiencies are achieved through effective contract negotiation, legal review and appropriate approvals for fiduciary control. Through supervision and departmental committee work, the director leads library collection development efforts in accordance with Collection Development policy and acquisitions budget planning. The Director also oversees the PCOM Archives, Special Collections, DigitalCommons (PCOM’s institutional repository) and campus photography studio as well as has operations oversight responsibility for the PA campus. *QUALIFICATIONS**:* · ALA accredited Master’s degree in library and information science · Minimum five years of administrative experience as a unit head, or higher in an academic, medical or science library · Preference given to experience with collection development, e-resources management, contract negotiation, pricing and budget management · Knowledge of health sciences education and resources across a broad spectrum · Strong interpersonal skills, team player and empower staff · Ability to see the big-picture, envision a new future, build trust, respect others, willingness to compromise, lead change and foster innovation · Experience working in a multi-campus environment *DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES* *:*1. Collection Development a. Maintains Collection Development policy. b. Oversees acquisitions, cataloging, metadata, technical services for multiple formats within various library systems. c. Ensures access to national tools and standards that enable cataloging quality control, such as MARC, RDA, AACR2, OCLC. Confers on issues related to bibliographic quality control in ILS. 2. Electronic Resources a. Oversees e-resources management. b. Leads usage assessment and data analysis. c. Evaluates annual renewals of journals, journal packages and databases from EBSCO, LYRASIS, PALCI and NERL. 3. Vendor Relationships a. Oversees the vendor portals, and invoice and contract management. b. Manages and communicates with vendors. 4. Archives a. Develops a two-year strategic plan for FY24 –FY26. b. Develops accessioning strategies. 5. DigitalCommons and Scholarly Communications a. Works with staff to design workflows that will increase scanning of print objects and to transfer stored images and streaming videos from the ITS server into new or existing PCOM History collections on the DC. b. Resolves research and publishing issues. 6. Photograph Collections a. Guides the transition of digital collections from the ITS server to the DigitalCommons. b. Secures adequate physical capacity. 7. PA Campus Oversight a. Recruits, retains and mentors a forward thinking, diverse and inclusive staff. b. Fosters a team oriented environment. c.
