Julia,
 
As soon as you gopher is "public", I'm sure many other health-oriented
gophers (like the one being developed at my institution) would like to
point to such a useful menu item. Some proportion of what you see in your
local newspapers will be wire-service stories.  Maybe librarians in
larger markets could send non-wire-service abstracts from daily
newspapers that include the medical lit. citation. Those could be added
to you gopher as well. That would avoid alot of pointless replication of
the same idea on 50  different gophers.
 
Some need for work and coordination, but a fruitful area for cooperation.
