Terry- I think the reason you got "pregnancy complications" when you
exploded "pregnancy" is because articles to which the indexers apply
the subject heading "pregnancy complications" also get the check tag
"pregnancy." Thus, those articles have *both* subject headings
("pregnancy" and "pregnancy complications"). However, you *don't*
get the explode of "pregnancy complications" that way, since the
articles with the subject headings further down in the "pregnancy
complications" tree do not appear to be indexed with "pregnancy"
as well. Thus, by exploding "pregnancy" you also get the general
subject heading "pregnancy complications" but not necessarily the
more specific terms under "pregnancy complications."
