The Computer Fair encourages the sharing of resources among
Columbia-Presbyterian's academic and hospital divisions, as well as
sharing among New York City's other academic health sciences
campuses. The Fair is two days of speakers, demonstrations and
exhibits, held in the new Health Sciences Learning Center.

SCOPE

The Fair Coordinating Committee invites presentations and
exhibitors on all topics related to Computers in the Health Sciences.
Topics include Instruction and Learning in the Health Sciences
Curriculum, Clinical Information Systems, Medical Informatics,
Technology and Medical Research, and Administrative Computing in
Healthcare Settings.

FAIR ACTIVITIES

SPEAKERS / VENDOR PRESENTATIONS (45 minutes)
Speakers on all aspects of Computers in Health Sciences are invited.
Preference will be given to speakers that address the themes
suggested above. There will be slide, videotape or computer
projection facilities available to accompany a speaker's
presentation.

DEMONSTRATIONS (all day in exhibit area)

Demonstrations enable faculty, students and vendors to demonstrate
and discuss new computer applications in the health sciences. These
sessions do not involve a formal presentation and will be located in a
special exhibit area.

WORKSHOPS (45 minutes)

Workshops take place in a microcomputer classroom with either
Macintosh or IBM-compatible computer projection equipment. Some
hands-on practice could be included, based on software availability
and compatibility. Workshop attendance is limited; same-day sign-
up (registration) will be offered to Computer Fair attendees.

VENDOR EXHIBITS

Exhibits will be an integral part of the Fair. Companies or
institutions offering products and services for healthcare education
or administration are invited to showcase these products in the
exhibit area. A modest financial contribution will be required from
commercial, non-academic exhibitors. Exhibitors making a
contribution of $500 or more will be listed as Fair Sponsors on all
formal publicity.
