I'm not certain which article was the inspiration for the original
posting on this subject.  An example of this sort of article may
be found in the BRITISH MEDICAL JOURNAL, vol. 306, April 3, 1993:
 
    Silagy, C.  Developing a Register of Randomised Controlled Trials
                in Primary Care,  pp. 897-900
 
This article does make a point of the citations missed in a MEDLINE search,
and includes the search strategy.  By including the search strategy, and
not merely making reference to having done a MEDLINE search, the author
permits replication and criticism of that portion of the methodology.
For that, the author should be commended.
