Just would like to second Kelly Daigle's statement about the need for
experts and expertise. With the proliferation of user-friendly systems,
it's important that we remember and take seriously our responsibility
to stay informed in depth about systems, their "deep structure," etc.
Much of the time we're coaches on these user-friendly systems at a
superficial level, and it can be discouraging when users don't need us
in the same way they did when the only access to computer-assisted
resources was through an intermediary.
