Western Psychiatric Institute of the University of Pittsburgh Medical
Center has recently compiled a "Wellness Resources Catalog" of about 40 pages
which includes materials from our "Outpatients Library". To quote from the
introduction:
        "The Outpatients Library provides access to electronic resources on wellness and vocational topics for the clients of WPIC outpatient programs. "Well-ness", sometimes referred to as "Consumer health," covers a broad range of
physical and mental health subjects. It encompasses topics typically
associated with health, such as drug abuse education, nutrition and specific
conditions (heart disease, high blood pressure, epilepsy, schizophrenia, etc.)
"Wellness" also incorporates materials to assist users in building the skills
that will help them cope with their environments and lead healthier lifestyles,
thus contributing to their overall "wellness", i.e. parenting, smoking
cessation, stress reduction, and decision-making. The computer-aided
instructional programs, interactive laserdiscs, videocassettes, and CD-ROM
programs included in this catalog were written and produced for the general
public and are commonly available."

        If you are interested in acquiring this catalog and/or a companion
catalog of "Work Readiness Resources", please contact me at the address below.
Please note there is a handling charge of $10 US for one of these catalogs, or
$15 for both. Also please note these are NOT books, but other types of media,
including DOS, Macintosh, multi-media, CD-ROM, laserdisc, etc.
