The University of Tennessee, Memphis Health Sciences Library and Education
Center  is recruiting to fill the position of Instructor/Reference Librarian --
This is an entry level position responsible for providing reference and
instructional services to library users including service at the reference
desk, online database searching, instruction in the use of scholarly
information resources and the evaluation and management of retrieved
information. While mainly concerned with providing user services, the position
has academic expression through contributions to teaching, publication,
research and service to the profession of health sciences librarianship and
information science.  Contributions to the profession of health sciences
librarianship and information science will be in a manner consistent with
primary service responsibilities.  Faculty rank will be at the level of
instructor with a minimum salary of $25,000.
 
Qualifications include a Masters degree in library and information science from
an ALA accredited program.  Experience in a health sciences environment
desired.  Able to provide general reference service, search the MEDLARS
databases as well as DIALOG and provide instructional services to users.  Have
working knowledge of microcomputers, file servers, LANs, and the Internet.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential as are good
interpersonal, teaching and listening skills.
 
The Health Sciences Library and Biocommunications Center serves the Colleges of
Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, Allied Health, Graduate Health Sciences
