 Hi, all,

I was trying to assist someone in logging onto Ovid.

Although we DID manage to get into our provider's system using
her "Practical Peripherals" modem, a freebie with her QuickLink
software pkg, the problems came when we tried to log on to
Ovid: The top Ovid screen was cut off (expanding the screen didn't
help), and searching text was garbled.... although
not completely. We tried troubleshooting in various ways, but were
unable to get it to work correctly. (We were, however, able to get into
other databases which were clearly displayed.)

I referred this to our network folks, but unfortunately, they don't provide
support on this kind of thing. They did, however, tell me that the
problem is with VT100 emulation, which PP does not fully provide (even
though it is listed as a terminal option on the menu (??)).

Anyone run into this? How did you fix it? Will my patron have to
 purchase a new modem?

 TIA,

 Cynthia McClellan
