Health knowledge and information is part of several accreditation processes - medical schools, hospitals, residency programs, allied health specialists and the like. This is why the satellite teleconference of the Medical Library Association entitled "The Role of the Library in Accreditation" which will be broadcast on Wednesday, March 13, 1996, at 1:00 PM EST, is taking a broad based view. You will hear from Dr. Harry Jonas of the Liaison Commission on Medical Eduction about standards for medical schools and colleagues like Lynn Kasner Morgan, Shelley Bader, Bob Braude and Rochelle Minchow sharing their experiences with LCME. You will also hear from Dr. Paul Schyve of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcase Organizations and Marlilyn Colton from the Canadian Council on Health Services Accreditation addressing the library's role in hospital accreditation. Colleagues Christiane Jones, Jacqueline Doyle and Connie Schardt will expand these ideas during their segments of the teleconference. Dr. John Gienapp will represent the accreditation process from the viewpoint of the residency programs and will particpate with the other presenters in a live panel at the end of the 90 minute program. Sereval other MLA members will share their experiences of accreditation processes. Overall, you, the viewer, will get a broadbased look at what makes the accreditation process a positive and growth-filled experience. Check the Downlink Update for the location nearest you.
