Thanks for taking the time to give feedback on the self-evaluation forms. I would like to respond to one frequent comment about the grading level of the homework assignments. Alot of people felt they were graded too harshly and with too much emphasis on spelling and grammer, particularly by yours truly. I want everyone to realize that grammer and spelling counted for one point out of the ten (two points in some cases of severe quality problems) for the assignments I graded. I believe Lisa did the same. A point would be deducted after numerous typos (lots of these) or for very unclear writing (not many of these). I did edit them as best I could though - even though they were only homework assignments. So, the amount of marking-up on your homework doesn't necessarily relate to the grade you received. I marked up the 10/10s as well. Think of it at as extra educational value for your tuition dollar. The bulk of your grade came from your ability to follow the assignments and read, comprehend, analyze, summarize, explain, etc., as asked. To the charge of grading harshly, I plead guiltly. It takes alot more time and is harder, but, we'd rather you make mistakes and learn from them here than from your employer after graduation. Also, know that Sue read all your homeworks after I had graded them - you aren't the victim of a grad student run amok. This response in no way dismisses the concerns you expressed. They will be taken seriously, just as last semester's student input spurred an effort to change the course for this semester. All the best ... Dennis
