Announcing RNMGR, a new Listserv specifically for Nurse Managers.

For those who aren't quite "up" on Internet terminology, a Listserv is a
computer controlled communication system that allows persons of common
interest to communicate seamlessly with their collegues. A message sent
to one address is rerouted to all of the "subscribers" of the Listserv,
allowing the subscribers to communicate with each other about any subject
in which they have interest.

Nurse Managers have unique problems and concerns not always discussed in
forums that are just for Registered Nurses or Advanced Practice Nurses.
RNMGR has been created to facilitate communications between Nurse
Managers about the problems and concerns unique to their role in the
delivery of health services.

These can be staff scheduling problems, questions regarding growing or
shrinking departments, redefinition of their job title and
responsibilities, downsizing concerns, employment laws and regulations,
dispute resolution, employee recognition or discipline questions, the use
of new technology in their department, in short, whatever a Nurse Manager
might want to discuss with other Nurse Managers will be fuel for this
unique communications system.

Any Nurse Manager with access to the Internet (including membership in
AOL, Compuserve or any other commercial service) can join (without cost
or obligation) simply by sending an e-mail message as follows:

Send a one word message addressed to [log in to unmask] In the
message field, simply type "subscribe" (without the quotes). Nothing
else is needed, not even a signature.

You will automatically be added as a subscriber to RNMGR and you can send
your communications to [log in to unmask] for redistribution to all other
subscribers.

That's all there is to joining what is hoped to become the nation's top
communication service for Nurse Mangers. Use it to your benefit as much
as you like. This will be an unmoderated list, no one will be censoring
the communications. However, human and computer monitoring will always
be present for any technical problems which will be immediately addressed.

At first, the message traffic will be quite light because it simply
takes awhile to add enough subscribers to get a lively conversation
going. However, it is expected to grow rapidly for the benefit of all
the participants in RNMGR.
