If you work in institutions where 'patient focused care' has been implemented,
you would see nurses being replaced by $18,000 (or less) per year 'health care
associates' or 'health care technicians'.  Right now most nurses do not fee
that they are considered to be essential but dispensible.
 
Another side to the coin.  I hate to be paranoid, but does sexism enter into
this considering that the professions of nursing and librarianship are
predominately female?
