Head, Serials and Acquisitions Department

Denison Memorial Library at the University of Colorado Health Sciences
Center seeks an experienced librarian to administer its Serials and
Acquisitions Department.  This position monitors the information
resources budget and maintains all fiscal records for materials
purchased for the library's collections, and manages the acquisition,
processing, binding and physical preservation of all library
materials.  The position, which supervises a staff of 4 FTE support
staff, reports to the Associate Director of the library and
participates in library management.  Minimum requirements include a
master's degree from an ALA accredited library school; three years of
experience in increasingly responsible positions, including serials
management in an automated technical services environment; experience
in a research or health sciences library, including experience with
MARC and bibliographic utilities; a record of involvement in
professional associations and/or evidence of
publications/presentations. Membership in the Academy of Health
Information Professionals is preferred.

Individuals applying for this position should have a thorough
knowledge of sound fiscal/accounting practices, publishers and
vendors, serials management, cataloging and trends in technical
services; excellent analytical and creative problem-solving,
interpersonal, oral and written communications skills; familiarity
with new technologies for the delivery of information over electronic
networks; evidence of initiative, flexibility, attention to detail and
productivity, and ability to work creatively in a rapidly changing
environment. Experience with the Innovative Interfaces, Inc.,
integrated library system is a plus.  Strong supervisory and
management skills are necessary.

Denison Library is the primary library serving the UCHSC schools of
Medicine, Dentistry, Nursing, Pharmacy, and the Graduate School.  The
library has a collection of more than 240,000 volumes and
approximately 1,400 journal subscriptions, a large media collection
and several special collections.

Outreach Librarian

Denison Memorial Library at the University of Colorado Health Sciences
Center is seeking an energetic person to support statewide access to
MEDLINE and other library services.

This position, which reports to the Head of Information Services, is
responsible for promoting and evaluating off-campus programs; training
and coordinating support of the subscribers; representing the library
to health professionals and others throughout the state; participating
in the planning of other contract and outreach programs.  Other duties
include providing reference assistance at the Information Desk.

Requirements:  ALA-Accredited MLS, two years of professional
experience in a health sciences and/or academic library; excellent
interpersonal and communication skills; a commitment to service and to
teamwork; willingness to travel within the state; microcomputer
knowledge; ability to teach adults and online searching skills.

Experience with MEDLINE searching, telecommunications software, and
Internet/Web resources is preferred. Membership in the Academy of
Health Information Professionals, familiarity with medical
terminology, and grant-writing skills are desirable.

This is a 12-month, non-tenured faculty position with full benefits;
Salary range is $34,000 - $44,000.  Deadline for application is May
