As a vascular Surgeon and RVT, I completely agree that evaluation for venous
insufficency, as well as for DVT is essential for an adequate lower extremity
venous exam.  We frequently see patients with leg swelling and a duplex
report (generally from radiology) " No DVT".  This type of report is clearly
of very little value, and we too have to repeat the exam in order to properly
characterize the patient's problem and treat appropriately.
