The Vermont Historical Society announces the publication "Yours, in the
cause of the slave," a document packet geared for middle-school
students and their teachers.  This packet contains historical essays
providing background information on the anti-slavery movement in
Vermont, documents including newspaper clippings on the Fugitive Slave
Act of 1850 and on fugitives passing through the state as well as
letters between abolitionists about their activities involving
fugitives, document questions, teaching suggestions, a time-line,
bibliography, and glossary.
        "Yours, in the cause of the slave" is a 30-page document packet
tied to Vermont's Framework of Standards.  Documents are printed on a
heavy, durable paper for use in the classroom.  This packet is
available at a discount to Vermont schools for $6.00 The retail price
is $8.00.  To order, please send a check, including $2.50 per copy for
