1.  Saturday, September 6, 1997, 1-2, Fletcher Free Library,
Burlington. Slide presentation by Jen Russell, UVM Consulting
Archaeology program, "Glassware from the Early 19th Century Ozias
Atherton Site in Duxbury, Vermont: Discussion of Techniques Used to
Identify and Classify Glass Artifacts."  Glass artifacts from the site
will be on display at the Fletcher Free Library during the month of
September.

2.  Saturday, September 27, 1997, 10am-4pm.  "A Walk Through Time:
Explore Historical Archaeology at the Ethan Allen Firing Range in West
Bolton." Archaeologists will lead tours of farms, homes, a church, and
other sites abandoned when the U.S. government established the firing
range in the 1920s and expanded it in the 1940s.  The tours are
sponsored by the University of Vermont's Consulting Archaeology
Program and the Vermont Army National Guard to help celebrate the 4th
annual Vermont Archaeology Week.  Tours will start on the hour; the
last tour will start at 3:00 pm.

Directions:  From Jericho, take Nashville Road east to West Bolton. In
West Bolton, turn left (north) on to Cemetery Road.  Cross over a
single lane bridge and follow Cemetery Road about 1/4 mile to parking
area. There will be signs.  Call 1-802-655-5480 for help with
directions or for additional information.
